Profile I am a qualified Chartered Accountant with a 2:1 Finance degree. I have 21 years experience of accounting and systems within Banking and Finance. My key skills are technical and span across IT, Accounting and Business Process. I am familiar with, and work on a regular basis with, Oracle Financials. I have considerable experience garnered from working on numerous IT projects. I have programming abilities and have developed a number of Microsoft VBA applications. I have also experience with web site development - writing raw HTML and have programmed to a modest degree with JAVA Script, Perl and Flash (using Koolmoves). I am familiar with SQL. I am familiar with SSADM. Over my period with the bank I have managed a number of teams of accountants and participated as a team member on various projects. I have also undertaken various business analyst type roles where I work individually. I currently hold the position of "Manager - Systems Accounting - Retail Finance". Recent Work (last two years) I have been responsible (from an accounting perspective) for two major operational systems projects -
involving migration, interfaces, business processes, reconcilations and legal compliance.

- used across finance, pricing and marketing departments to asssess product profitability.
I have personally developed a number of PC systems to handle large and complex calculations and processes. A VBA batch processing system I have designed and developed has enabled the desktop PC to calculate and process far larger volumes of data than would otherwise be possible. I have developed a company intranet site to report and control the distribution of my loans profit model along with current updated parameters. In general, the models I build require a broad skills range - from analysis of the business process across solutioning, building, testing to deployment. Career History I joined Deloitte Haskins and Sells in 1976 (note the Deloitte name has been traded within the accountancy profession a number of times both before and since). At the time the firm was one of the "big 6" accountancy firms on a national basis. I undertook a wide range of company (both large and small) audits during this period. After qualification as an ACA - I joined Shell Chemicals Ltd at their large Stanlow oil refinery in the North West. I joined as a "Plant Accountant" and was responsible for the management accounting of three chemical plants (using a standard costing variance reporting) including a staff of eight accountants. After 5 years I moved to London to participate in a large project to update Shell Oil(UK)'s accounting systems as a business analyst - this lasted for 18 months and where I began my systems experience.
On completion of the project I moved back to the NW of England and joined the finance arm of a national UK bank.The company undertook financing activity both to retail and commercial markets. I have been with the banking group to this day (21 years) and over this period I have had a number of roles such as :-
The best tools I use are from the ubiquitous MS Office suite most notably MS Excel and MS Access with various VBA developments. In addition I use a number of other supporting products such as Datawatch's Monarch and the simple but very effective "TextPad" to manipulate 1 million+ data records .
